Countdown to 125 Anniversary Challenge
The countdown is on for a special fundraising challenge to mark LionHeart’s 125th anniversary year, being spearheaded by some of our corporate partners and long-term supporters.
The 125 Anniversary Challenge aims to get teams of three competing in a fun run, walk or cycle challenge throughout June to raise money and awareness of LionHeart. It’s being led by our corporate partners SDL Surveying but is open to anyone with a connection to the surveying industry - the more the merrier!
The special anniversary challenge follows two previous successful summer fundraisers which raised thousands of pounds for us. It started in 2022 with Route 66, where teams of academy surveyors from SDL and Countrywide virtually ‘raced’ each other to cover the distance of the famous Route 66 in America.
This was followed last year by the Surveyor Bushtucker Trail, in which SDL and Countrywide were joined by eSurv and Sava to compete to cover the distance between Melbourne and Cairns in Australia. Participants aimed to cover the 4,800km distance with a target to raise £4,000 for LionHeart - but in fact, they covered a collective 19,000km and raised over £7,800 in sponsorship, which included match-funding contributions from some of the firms.
Lucy Wright, LionHeart’s corporate partnerships and fundraising accounts executive, said: “We're so excited about the enthusiasm shown for our special 125-year challenge and really grateful to our partners who are driving it forward. We've got 16 teams from various firms signed up already, including some sole traders who have teamed up to create their own teams, and would absolutely love more people to get involved.
“This is a very special milestone year for LionHeart as we reflect on 125 years of supporting the surveying community. The simple fact is that we wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the donations of surveyors over the years, so it’s really fitting that our supporters are coming together to help us mark the occasion in this way.
“If the last two years are anything to go by there will be plenty of good-natured competition and the challenge will get people out and about with their peers while raising money for their professional charity at the same time. We can’t wait to get started!”
Adrian Drummond MRICS, from SDL Surveying, one of the organisers behind the event, said: “Large firms, medium firms, sole practitioners - everyone is invited. Improve your fitness and mental health and let’s raise some much-needed funds for an excellent charity that does so much for people in our profession.”
